Premise

Hygge is a worldhopping exploration game that has characters spending each month in various locations throughout time and space. A cataclysmic cosmic event occurs that prevents characters from returning home after what is supposed to be a two week vacation on board the SS Hygge, and characters will be travelling to various destinations on a journey to return home the long way around.

Unscheduled Mod Announcement: Structure Change

Hello travelers!

I’ve received some feedback over PMs (thank you again, I really appreciate this) primarily about the pacing of the game potentially being too slow and that having each TDM be ‘ship only’ activities would not be engaging. People have landed into the Wild West in the TDM but they don’t actually know what to do with the setting. Moreover, the faster taggers will run out of things to do towards the tail end of every month, especially once they have been on the ship for a long time. Finally, the activity requirements did not suit the conceptual pacing of the game.

The original idea was that we would spend alternating months on the ship and on the worldhop destination, a half/half mix of SOL with action/adventure, however this does mean that TDM/app months are always ship months. To rectify the pacing issue, I will be changing the structure of the game to have a worldhop every month. You can still do stuff onboard the ship on any month (use the facilities, roommate CR etc.), but the focus will be on the worldhop destination. There will be opt-out type of prompts in the majority of the worldhop destinations that are in store for us, so you shouldn’t have to feel like you are stuck with ship activity all the time.

The calendar may get minor adjustments to reflect this change. The FAQ will also be fixed.

This does mean that worldhop events will be more ‘freeform’ and if there are events that require signups, RNG or some other mechanic that relies on people already in the game, they can only be executed on non-TDM/app months. It may also mean that there might not be as much time for player plots as there would have been on the old schedule.

December will always be a less action-oriented month. No one should have to feel like they are missing out on an exotic destination because they are busy with real life commitments.

For the month of June it will be stuck as the whole month focusing on the Wild West as that is how the first TDM was laid out. More details about the setting will be dropped on the mod announcement on the 25th. This setting will be fleshed out more and there will be extra objectives for characters to complete until the schedule is adjusted to its new course in July.

I understand this change might not be what people wanted to signed up for, and it might be a dealbreaker for people who were anticipating taking it slow, so I do apologise if you think this was a misleading ‘bait and switch’; there was no malicious intention behind the schedule change.

If you would like to submit any other feedback, please feel free to reach out via [plurk.com profile] hyggemods, send a PM, leave a screened comment in the mod contact or leave an unscreened comment in the suggestion box.

Thank you for your time!
